Where we dream up new ideas. We spend each day drawing from moments of inspiration to imagine new possibilities for design.
Where we make those ideas reality. We create handcrafted, limited edition objects that are made with the ultimate in care by a group of dedicated craftspeople.
A small shop on Bowen Island selling one-of-a-kind objects for giving and living. Highlighting Canadian design, we have created an environment to discover the final products of ours and other likeminded artisans.
Every object should have a story. We are guided by a simple belief that exceptional objects will only be created by those who put more thought, time, and soul into making them. In our relentless pursuit of perfection, the goal is for all our objects to create an experience. We care for it, so that it will be carried with you for a lifetime.
Gamla was founded by Brent (Branch) Freedman in 2013. What began as a reflection of his multi-disciplinary design practice, with a particular focus on furniture and small object design, has since become a pursuit of the things that make us, us.
Gamla is now led by both Branch and Robin McMillan, partners in life as well as everything else. We met in Montreal in 2004 while Robin studied Communications and Branch studied Fine Arts and Design at Concordia University.
We love what we do and we’ve set out to change things in our own way, and this is is how we’re going to do it, in our very small corner of the universe.
